- The R&D on applied superconductivity at the Research
Center Karlsruhe (FZK)
related to world activities in these areas

- The talk will give a survey on the present activities which
are emphasising applications of superconductivity in electric
power engineering, ultrahigh field magnets for NMR and large
magnet systems for thermonuclear experiments like ITER. An important
prerequisite are developments for the superconducting materials
and wires, especially high temperature superconductors, as well
as the cryogenic supply. Also high voltage problems play an important
role and are investigated in a low temperature high voltage laboratory.
The different projects carried out at FZK are put in relation
to the international activities in these areas.
